Bleach doesn’t normally get spilled on the carpet!!! Usually what happens is that after a stain is already on the carpet someone gets desperate wanting to remove the stain as nothing else has worked.
Bleach is not a cleaner of last resort! BLEACH WILL REMOVE THE COLOUR FROM THE CARPET. The only way to return the carpet to the original colour is re-dyeing the carpet in the places where the colour was lost. Does it work? Most of the time the colour can be re-dyed so no one will be able to find the spot, however too much bleach used on the carpet will actually damage the fibres of the carpet to the point where it will not properly accept the re-dying process. Too much bleach will actually burn the fibres of your carpet.
Although most bleach spots are successfully re-dyed, the spots with too strong a bleach solution used on the carpet can only be re-dyed with between 60 and 80% success. This means it won’t be perfect but it will not be a spot that jumps out at you when you walk into the room. Only you will notice it, chances are that anyone that didn’t know it was there won’t see it.
